After nearly forty years of demonstrated success, the federal Historic Tax Credit (HTC) was eliminated in the House tax reform bill passed on November 16, 2017. On Friday, December 1, 2017, the Senate passed their own version of tax reform which would preserve the credit at 20 percent.
Those the understand the power of the HTC to support and transform America's historic communities, must act now to save the credit during the upcoming conference committee between the House and Senate. Emails and calls to House and Senate offices are still timely if done in the next few days.
Join us in urging lawmakers to make certain the Historic Tax Credit is retained in the final tax reform bill. Tell them how the program is critical to removing blighted buildings and creating construction and permanent jobs where you live.
We encourage you to please customize the message to your delegation. The more personal the better. Thank you for helping us make the case for preservation!
