A shady business deal that will impact the health of many Michigan residents is now being called out. Recently the Michigan Strategic Fund Board struck a backroom deal and awarded $20,363,905 in tax credits to AK Steel, one of the state’s worst polluters, with absolutely no expectation that they clean up their act.
There are questions as to whether or not the Strategic Fund Board had the legal authority to move forward with the tax break for AK Steel. Attorney General Bill Schuette has the opportunity to weigh in and issue a formal opinion on where the law stands.
