At the "Illinois LGBTQ Forum: The Democratic Candidates for Governor", lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer Illinoisans will have the unique opportunity to hear directly from the Democratic candidates for governor about the issues that impact our lives. The event is organized by Affinity Community Services, the Association of Latinos/as Motivating Action, the Equality Illinois Institute, and Pride Action Tank. This is an event organized by 501(c)(3) organizations for the purpose of education. There will be no electioneering or endorsements at this event by these organizations.
As of today, the announced Democratic candidates who have confirmed their participation are State Sen. Daniel Biss, anti-violence activist Tio Hardiman, Madison County Regional Superintendent Bob Daiber, and businessmen J.B. Pritzker and Chris Kennedy. While all the Democratic candidates have been invited to attend, participation is contingent on filing their candidate nominating petitions by the close of business on Monday, December 4. This is the last day on which gubernatorial candidates can file nominating petitions with the Illinois State Board of Elections. Co-hosts includes: AIDS Foundation of Chicago, CALOR, Chicago Black Gay Men's Caucus, Howard Brown Health, HRC Chicago, LGBT Chamber of Commerce of Illinois, Peoria Proud, Phoenix Center, Prairie Pride Coalition, Rainbow Cafe LGBT Youth Center, South Side Help Center, Writers, Planners & Trainers, ALPHAS of the Quad Cities.
